Mastaba of Ny-Pepy

Ny-Pepy, royal majordomo and Privy to Secrets of the House of the Morning (only two of his many titles) was buried in a small mastaba built of mud brick.

Mastaba of Ny-Pepy upon discovery (1999). Clearly visible are remains of a mud brick massif built around the shaft (left) and a low wall enclosing the cult space.

False door of Ny-Pepy. It is through this door that his soul came from the Afterworld to consume offerings left by his family. Traces of polychromy are preserved on the surface.
